Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Sound Reinforcement Tech with a strong focus on House of Worship environments to join our stable, full-time team. In this role, you will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of sound systems for various worship services, events, and productions. This position requires a deep understanding of live audio mixing, acoustic principles, and troubleshooting techniques specific to the dynamic needs of religious institutions. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering high-quality audio experiences and possess the technical skills to manage complex sound systems effectively. You will collaborate closely with worship leaders, musicians, and volunteers to ensure all audio requirements are met with professionalism and spiritual sensitivity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and mix live sound for worship services, rehearsals, special events, and conferences.
  • Set up, tear down, and maintain all audio equipment, including microphones, mixing consoles, speakers, and processing gear.
  • Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance on sound systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently during live events.
  • Provide training and support to volunteer audio teams within house of worship settings.
  • Assist with the installation and integration of new audio equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with production teams to achieve desired sonic outcomes for various programs.
  • Stay updated on new audio technologies and best practices relevant to house of worship environments.
  • Ensure all sound reinforcement activities comply with safety standards and best industry practices.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 3 years (36 months) of professional experience in live sound reinforcement, preferably in a house of worship context.
  • Proficiency with digital and analog mixing consoles (e.g., Yamaha, Behringer, Midas, Allen & Heath).
  • Strong understanding of microphone placement techniques and gain structure.
  • Experience with stage monitoring systems (in-ear monitors and wedges).
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex audio signal paths and equipment failures.
  • Familiarity with acoustic principles and room equalization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in collaborative and volunteer-led environments.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by service schedules.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal training or certification in audio engineering or live sound production.
  • Experience with Dante or other audio-over-IP networking protocols.
  • Proficiency with audio recording and editing software.
  • Basic understanding of video and lighting systems integration.
  • Experience leading or mentoring a team of audio volunteers.
