Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Online Civic Engagement Assistant to join our remote team. This crucial role supports our efforts to amplify human rights advocacy through digital platforms, engaging citizens and driving participation in campaigns. You will be instrumental in managing online communities, coordinating digital actions, and ensuring our messages reach and resonate with a broad audience. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about human rights and skilled in digital communication to contribute to meaningful change from a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage online communities across various social media platforms, fostering positive engagement.
- Assist in drafting and scheduling compelling content for civic engagement campaigns, including social media posts, email newsletters, and website updates.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for online campaigns, analyzing data to inform future strategies.
- Coordinate digital advocacy actions, such as online petitions, email-to-target tools, and virtual events.
- Provide technical and logistical support for online engagement platforms and tools.
- Respond to inquiries and comments from online participants in a timely and professional manner.
- Research emerging trends and best practices in online civic engagement and digital advocacy.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including communications, advocacy, and research, to ensure coherent messaging.
- Assist with data entry and maintenance of supporter databases.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (1+ year) in social media management, digital marketing, or online community engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
- Basic understanding of human rights principles and advocacy.
- Familiarity with digital analytics tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
- Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
- Knowledge of other languages relevant to international human rights work.
- Experience with online advocacy tools (e.g., Change.org, Action Network).
- Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Spark).
