Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and physically fit Mobile Hospital Porter to join our dedicated team. This crucial role involves providing essential support across multiple hospital sites within the Cambridge area, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies. You will be a vital link in our healthcare system, contributing directly to patient care and operational efficiency. Travel between sites will be required, and associated travel expenses will be covered.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients, including those with varying mobility levels, between wards, departments, and different hospital sites.
- Move medical equipment, furniture, and supplies efficiently and carefully across all designated locations.
- Deliver urgent specimens, blood products, and medication to laboratories and wards.
- Assist with the transfer of deceased patients to the mortuary, showing respect and sensitivity.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with clinical staff, patients, and visitors.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety, manual handling, and infection control policies.
- Ensure timely and reliable support for all multi-site operational requirements.
- Operate hospital vehicles safely and efficiently for inter-site transfers (if applicable and trained).
- Complete all necessary paperwork and logs accurately for tracking movements and tasks.
Required Skills
- Excellent physical fitness and ability to undertake strenuous tasks, including lifting and pushing.
- Valid UK driving license with a clean record for multi-site travel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient-centred approach.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules across various locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment.
- Experience in a role requiring multi-site travel or logistics.
- Basic IT skills for logging tasks.
- First Aid certification.
