Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Medicinal Chemist Associate to join our dynamic Drug Discovery team in Pearland, TX. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel small molecules for various therapeutic targets. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and advance our pipeline of innovative medicines, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and synthesize novel small molecules with desired pharmacological properties, utilizing state-of-the-art synthetic methodologies.
  • Execute multi-step organic synthesis, purification, and structural characterization of target compounds using techniques such as NMR, MS, and HPLC.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental data, making data-driven decisions to optimize synthetic routes and compound properties.
  • Collaborate effectively with biologists, computational chemists, and other team members to optimize lead compounds and advance projects.
  • Maintain meticulous laboratory notebooks and contribute to the preparation of scientific reports, presentations, and patent applications.
  • Stay current with scientific literature and new technologies in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field (or M.S. with significant industrial experience).
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of synthetic organic chemistry and reaction mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in modern analytical techniques including NMR, MS, and HPLC for compound characterization.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute multi-step syntheses and solve complex synthetic challenges.
  • Solid understanding of drug discovery principles, including ADME, pharmacokinetics, and structure-activity relationships (SAR).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and critical thinking ability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present scientific data effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral experience in medicinal chemistry or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry setting.
  • Familiarity with computational chemistry tools and techniques for drug design.
  • Experience with parallel synthesis and automation.
  • Track record of scientific contributions, including publications and/or patent applications.
