Job Description

DSV Canada is seeking an experienced and dynamic Logistics & Distribution Head to lead our operations in Wallaceburg, ON. This critical leadership role is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of our logistics and distribution network, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and superior service delivery. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in supply chain management, capable of driving operational excellence, implementing best practices, and fostering a high-performance team. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our local distribution strategy and ensuring seamless execution across all logistics functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all logistics and distribution activities, including warehousing, transportation, inventory management, and last-mile delivery, ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to continuously optimize supply chain efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance service levels in line with company objectives.
  • Manage, mentor, and lead a dedicated team of logistics professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and high performance.
  • Ensure stringent compliance with all relevant local, provincial, and federal regulatory requirements, as well as company policies, safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with sales, procurement, production, and customer service teams to strategically align logistics operations with overall business objectives and customer demands.
  • Utilize advanced data analytics to identify market trends, accurately forecast demands, monitor performance, and implement proactive corrective actions to mitigate potential issues.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with carriers, suppliers, and other service providers to secure the most cost-effective, reliable, and high-quality logistics solutions.
  • Establish, implement, and rigorously monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for all logistics operations, driving continuous performance improvements and reporting to senior management.

Required Skills

  • Extensive experience (minimum 6 years) in a senior leadership role within logistics, distribution, or supply chain management.
  • Strong leadership and exceptional team management abilities, with a proven track record of inspiring, developing, and retaining talent.
  • Proficiency in modern supply chain software, warehouse management systems (WMS), and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with an ability to thrive and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate complex contracts and manage intricate vendor relationships.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, capable of engaging with stakeholders at all organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as CSCMP (Certified Supply Chain Management Professional), PMP (Project Management Professional), or equivalent.
  • Proven experience with lean logistics principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with cross-border logistics operations, customs procedures, and international trade regulations.
  • Experience working within a global logistics provider or a company with complex, multi-modal supply chains.
