Job Description
Join MSS Security as a Local Council Ward Security Patrol Officer in Parramatta, NSW. You will play a crucial role in maintaining safety and order within designated local council wards. This position requires vigilance, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to public service. You will be provided with a full uniform and all necessary equipment to perform your duties effectively, ensuring a professional presence as you patrol and respond to incidents.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of designated local council wards on foot and/or by vehicle.
- Monitor public spaces for suspicious activities, security breaches, or potential hazards.
- Respond promptly to security alarms, incidents, and calls for assistance.
- Enforce local council bylaws and regulations where applicable, in coordination with relevant authorities.
- Document incidents, observations, and daily activities in detailed reports.
- Liaise effectively with local council staff, emergency services, and the public.
- Provide a visible deterrent to crime and anti-social behaviour.
- Assist the public with inquiries and provide directions or information as needed.
- Ensure the safety and security of council properties and assets.
Required Skills
- Current and valid Security Licence (Class 1AC)
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Excellent observational and problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical fitness to perform patrol duties, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence
- Proficiency in basic report writing and record keeping
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or community patrol
- Knowledge of local council bylaws and regulations within the Parramatta area
- Experience with security technology and communication systems
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and de-escalation skills
