Job Description

As a Laundry Porter at Hilton Cardiff, you will play a crucial role in the efficient operation of our hotel, specifically within our laundry and housekeeping departments. This physically demanding position involves the movement of large quantities of linens, both clean and soiled, within an industrial environment. You will ensure that all linen requirements for various hotel departments are met promptly, contributing to the seamless guest experience our hotel is known for. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, often under time constraints. You will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organisation within the linen storage areas and adhering to all health and safety guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transporting clean and soiled linens throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, laundry facility, and storage areas.
  • Loading and unloading commercial washing machines, dryers, and ironing equipment as needed.
  • Sorting linens according to type and condition, identifying items requiring special attention.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the laundry room, linen closets, and storage areas.
  • Assisting with inventory counts and reporting any discrepancies or shortages.
  • Operating and maintaining laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Adhering to all hotel safety and hygiene standards and procedures.
  • Communicating effectively with housekeeping and other departments to ensure timely linen supply.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy loads (up to 25kg).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Reliability and punctuality.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a hotel, laundry, or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with commercial laundry equipment.
