Job Description
We are seeking experienced and dedicated Independent Contractor Truck Drivers to partner with J.B. Hunt for lucrative and flexible opportunities. As an independent contractor, you’ll have the freedom to manage your own business, set your own schedule, and make your own dispatch decisions – absolutely no forced dispatch. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain your own commercial tractor and trailer.
- Transport freight efficiently and securely to designated locations.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
- Manage your time effectively to meet delivery schedules.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment.
- Maintain accurate logs and documentation as required.
- Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, and other drivers.
- Handle all aspects of your trucking business, including financial management.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable over-the-road (OTR) experience
- Clean driving record and MVR (Motor Vehicle Record)
- Proof of ownership or lease of a well-maintained tractor and trailer (or willingness to obtain one)
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of freight (e.g., dry van, refrigerated, flatbed).
- Established business entity (LLC, S-Corp, etc.).
- Strong business acumen and financial management skills.
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management software.
