Job Description

Are you an internationally trained nurse eager to launch your career in the United States? Northwestern Medicine is seeking dedicated and compassionate International Nurse Trainees to join our team in Chicago. This unique opportunity offers comprehensive training, support for NCLEX preparation, and H-1B / EB-3 visa sponsorship for qualified candidates. As a Nurse Trainee, you will work under the direct supervision of experienced registered nurses, gaining invaluable clinical experience, understanding U.S. healthcare practices, and preparing for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Illinois. This program is designed to bridge your international experience with the requirements of U.S. nursing practice, ensuring a smooth transition into a rewarding career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in a structured training program designed to prepare for U.S. nursing licensure (NCLEX-RN).
  • Assist Registered Nurses with patient care activities, including vital sign monitoring, personal care, and mobility assistance.
  • Document patient observations and care provided accurately and timely in electronic health records.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Actively engage in learning opportunities and seek feedback for professional development.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and uphold ethical nursing standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure a safe and supportive patient environment.

Required Skills

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program outside the U.S.
  • Eligibility to obtain an Authorization to Test (ATT) for the NCLEX-RN.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Cultural sensitivity and adaptability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior clinical experience in an acute care setting.
  • Completion of a CGFNS certification program.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bilingual proficiency, especially in Spanish or Polish, is a plus.
