Job Description
Are you a meticulous QA professional with a passion for gaming and a deep understanding of game engines? Electronic Arts is seeking an experienced Technical QA Tester to join our team in Torrance, CA, with a specialized focus on the Frostbite Engine. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the stability, performance, and overall quality of our next-generation titles. You’ll work closely with development teams, identifying complex technical issues, performing root cause analysis, and validating fixes within the sophisticated Frostbite environment. This is a top-tier opportunity for someone ready to dive deep into engine-level testing and contribute to some of the most anticipated games in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute detailed test plans and test cases specifically designed for Frostbite Engine functionality, including rendering, physics, animation, and networking systems.
- Identify, document, and track bugs with precision using bug tracking software, providing clear and concise reproduction steps and relevant technical data.
- Perform in-depth root cause analysis for complex technical defects, collaborating with engineering teams to understand underlying issues.
- Conduct performance, stability, and compatibility testing on various platforms and hardware configurations.
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts and tools where applicable to improve QA efficiency.
- Participate in design and code reviews to provide early feedback on potential quality risks.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to development teams, ensuring high-quality game features.
Required Skills
- Minimum 4 years of experience in Quality Assurance for video games, with a strong emphasis on technical QA.
- Proven experience with game engines, specifically a deep understanding of or direct experience with the Frostbite Engine.
- Proficiency in bug tracking databases (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla) and test case management systems.
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Ability to analyze complex technical issues and provide detailed, actionable reports.
- Familiarity with console and PC hardware, operating systems, and networking concepts.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Game Development, or a related technical field.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, C#) for test automation.
- Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Perforce, Git).
- Understanding of game development pipelines and software development life cycles.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- A genuine passion for video games and an understanding of the EA portfolio.
