Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Downstream Operations Aide to join our team at the Houston Refinery in Channelview, Texas. This entry-level position offers a high hourly rate and provides an excellent opportunity to start a career in the dynamic oil and gas refining industry. The Aide will support experienced operators in various day-to-day tasks within the refinery’s downstream processing units, contributing to the efficient and safe operation of our facilities. Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior operators in routine checks, monitoring, and operation of various refinery equipment and units.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks, including equipment cleaning, minor repairs, and preparing equipment for maintenance work.
- Conduct regular facility inspections to identify potential hazards, leaks, or operational abnormalities and report them promptly.
- Strictly adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
- Participate in emergency response drills and situations, understanding and executing assigned duties.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of operational parameters, safety checks, and completed tasks.
- Support material handling, chemical transfers, and sample collection as directed.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
- Engage in ongoing training and development programs to enhance operational knowledge and skills.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Strong commitment to safety, environmental protection, and operational excellence.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced industrial environment.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn complex refinery processes.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions.
- Excellent communication and observation skills.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
- Availability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required in a 24/7 operation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Associate's degree or vocational training in process technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
- Knowledge of basic refinery operations or chemical processes.
- Forklift operation certification or similar heavy equipment experience.
