Job Description

We are seeking a friendly and reliable Part-Time Hotel Porter to join our dedicated team at Mercure Hotel Newark on Trent. This role is ideal for stay-at-home parents looking for flexible hours that fit around family commitments. As a Hotel Porter, you will be the first point of contact for many of our guests, playing a crucial role in ensuring their stay is comfortable and hassle-free. Your primary responsibility will be to assist guests with their luggage, provide information, and help maintain the hotel’s welcoming environment. We value a positive attitude and a willingness to learn, so no prior hotel experience is necessary. Full training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist guests with luggage handling upon arrival and departure, ensuring a smooth transition.
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering guest queries and offering local recommendations.
  • Help maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of the hotel lobby and entrance areas.
  • Deliver newspapers, parcels, and messages to guest rooms as required.
  • Assist with setting up meeting rooms or other hotel facilities as needed.
  • Act as a point of contact for guests, directing them to various hotel amenities.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate department.
  • Uphold the hotel's standards of service and professionalism at all times.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous customer service experience (any sector)
  • Basic knowledge of the local Newark-on-Trent area
  • A full, clean UK driving licence (useful for occasional errands)
