Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Independent Contractor Truck Drivers to partner with XPO Logistics. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate and maintain your own commercial truck in compliance with all DOT regulations and company standards.
- Efficiently transport a variety of freight types across designated routes.
- Manage your own schedule and choose loads that align with your business strategy.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring vehicle is in optimal condition.
- Accurately complete all necessary paperwork, including logs, bills of lading, and delivery receipts.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, shippers, and receivers.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety protocols to ensure timely and secure deliveries.
- Provide excellent customer service during pickups and deliveries.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience
- Clean driving record (MVR) and PSP report
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Proof of ownership and registration for a qualified tractor
- Current active authority and proper insurance coverage
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety standards
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various freight types (e.g., dry van, flatbed, reefer)
- Hazmat endorsement
- TWIC card
- Business acumen and experience managing an owner-operator business
- Familiarity with electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management software
