Job Description
GXO Logistics is seeking a dedicated and professional HGV Class 2 Driver for local distribution routes based out of our Kingston upon Hull depot. This is a full-time position offering consistent local work with the added benefit of no overnight stays, allowing for a better work-life balance. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of goods to various clients across the region, upholding GXO’s high standards of service and operational safety. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate an HGV Class 2 vehicle for local deliveries and collections.
- Conduct thorough pre-and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting any defects.
- Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of goods to customer sites.
- Load and unload vehicles as required, ensuring goods are secured properly.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, completing all necessary paperwork and digital logs.
- Adhere to all road transport legislation, company policies, and health & safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries.
- Manage driving hours in accordance with Tachograph regulations.
Required Skills
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) Driving Licence.
- Current Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC).
- Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum of 12 months HGV Class 2 driving experience.
- No more than 6 penalty points on your licence (for minor offences only).
- Excellent understanding of UK driving laws and WTD regulations.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including loading and unloading.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of goods handling equipment (e.g., tail lifts, pump trucks).
- Previous experience in multi-drop delivery environments.
- Familiarity with local road networks in the Kingston upon Hull area and surrounding regions.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for routine vehicle checks.
