Job Description

As a Hospital Patient Transporter, you will be an essential part of our clinical support team, responsible for the safe, efficient, and compassionate movement of patients throughout the hospital premises. This includes transporting patients via wheelchairs, trolleys, and beds to and from wards, treatment areas, diagnostic departments, and operating theatres. You will play a key role in maintaining patient comfort, dignity, and safety during transit, communicating effectively with clinical staff and patients, and ensuring equipment is handled and cleaned appropriately.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport patients between hospital departments using appropriate methods (e.g., wheelchairs, trolleys, beds).
  • Assist patients with transfers to and from transport equipment, ensuring their comfort and dignity are maintained.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with patients, their families, and hospital staff.
  • Verify patient identity and destination before transport.
  • Ensure transport equipment is clean, well-maintained, and readily available.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
  • Respond promptly to transport requests and manage time efficiently.
  • Report any patient concerns or issues to the appropriate nursing staff immediately.
  • Provide basic comfort and reassurance to patients during transit.

  • Ability to physically assist patients with transfers and push transport equipment over long distances.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or patient-facing role.

  • Basic First Aid certification.
