Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Hardware Warehouse Clerk with a strong passion for DIY projects to join our team in Wesley Chapel, Florida. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the efficient handling of hardware products within our warehouse, ensuring accurate inventory, and maintaining an organized and safe environment. Crucially, your DIY knowledge will be a key asset, enabling you to assist in product identification, answer basic customer inquiries, and support our store associates in understanding product applications. Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and process incoming hardware shipments, verifying contents against purchase orders and ensuring accuracy.
- Organize and store products in designated warehouse locations, maintaining clear labeling and logical arrangement.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks safely and efficiently (forklift certification a plus).
- Pick and prepare hardware orders for dispatch to the sales floor or direct customer pick-up, ensuring timely fulfillment.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies, reporting any issues to management.
- Assist store associates and, when necessary, customers with product identification and basic DIY project advice.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Handle returns and damaged goods according to established procedures.
- Support the overall flow of goods within the store, contributing to an excellent customer experience.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a warehouse, retail, or related environment.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge and passion for hardware products and DIY home improvement projects.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency for inventory management systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to assist others.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a hardware store or home improvement retail setting.
- Forklift certification or experience operating similar warehouse machinery.
- Experience with inventory management software.
- A track record of providing excellent customer service.
