Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Grant Writer to join our remote team. This is a unique opportunity for an aspiring professional with a passion for non-profit work and a talent for persuasive writing to contribute to St. Jude’s life-saving mission. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing compelling grant proposals, reports, and other fundraising materials to secure vital funding for our programs and research initiatives. This position is 100% remote, allowing you to work from anywhere within the U.S., with a strong emphasis on collaboration and communication within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research potential funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Draft, edit, and proofread grant proposals, letters of inquiry, stewardship reports, and other development-related communications.
  • Collaborate with program managers, researchers, and financial staff to gather information and data for proposals.
  • Maintain an organized grants calendar and tracking system for submissions, deadlines, and follow-up activities.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive library of support documents, templates, and boilerplate language.
  • Conduct post-submission follow-up and manage communication with grantors as needed.
  • Ensure all submitted materials are compliant with grantor guidelines and internal standards.
  • Support the grants team with administrative tasks as required.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
  • Prior volunteer or internship experience in grant writing, fundraising, or a non-profit setting.
  • Familiarity with grant research tools and databases (e.g., Foundation Directory Online).
  • Experience with CRM software (e.g., Salesforce) or grant management systems.
