Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Maintenance Porter with basic handyman skills to join our team in Derry/Londonderry. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and excellent appearance of our retail premises, providing a safe and pleasant environment for both our customers and colleagues. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of performing a variety of light maintenance and repair tasks. All necessary tools and equipment will be provided, along with opportunities for training and development. This is an on-site position vital to the daily operations of our store.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify and address maintenance needs promptly.
  • Assist with general upkeep, including painting, patching, and minor carpentry.
  • Ensure all communal areas are kept clean, tidy, and safe for customers and staff.
  • Support the facilities team with moving furniture or equipment as required.
  • Respond quickly to maintenance requests and minor emergencies.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain an inventory of tools and supplies, reporting needs for replenishment.

Required Skills

  • Proven basic handyman skills (e.g., minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar maintenance or porter role.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to property maintenance.
  • Full UK driving licence.
