Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Maintenance Porter with basic handyman skills to join our team in Derry/Londonderry. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation and excellent appearance of our retail premises, providing a safe and pleasant environment for both our customers and colleagues. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of performing a variety of light maintenance and repair tasks. All necessary tools and equipment will be provided, along with opportunities for training and development. This is an on-site position vital to the daily operations of our store.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including minor repairs to fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections of the premises to identify and address maintenance needs promptly.
- Assist with general upkeep, including painting, patching, and minor carpentry.
- Ensure all communal areas are kept clean, tidy, and safe for customers and staff.
- Support the facilities team with moving furniture or equipment as required.
- Respond quickly to maintenance requests and minor emergencies.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain an inventory of tools and supplies, reporting needs for replenishment.
Required Skills
- Proven basic handyman skills (e.g., minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Good physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a similar maintenance or porter role.
- Basic understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to property maintenance.
- Full UK driving licence.
