Job Description
Join ExxonMobil’s dynamic Exploration & Production team as a Geology Summer Intern! This unique opportunity provides hands-on experience in the core geological processes that underpin our energy operations. You will contribute to real-world projects, gaining valuable insights into seismic interpretation, well log analysis, reservoir characterization, and field geology. This internship is designed for aspiring geologists eager to apply academic knowledge in a professional setting, working alongside industry experts on critical energy challenges. You will participate in data collection, analysis, and interpretation, supporting our efforts to sustainably explore and produce hydrocarbons.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior geologists with data acquisition, processing, and interpretation of geological data.
- Conduct literature reviews and gather geological information relevant to ongoing projects.
- Participate in field excursions to collect rock samples, map geological features, and understand subsurface structures.
- Analyze well logs, seismic data, and core samples to identify potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.
- Utilize geological software applications (e.g., Petrel, ArcGIS) for mapping and modeling.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and contribute to team discussions.
- Support geological modeling efforts and reservoir characterization studies.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations during field and office work.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Geology, Earth Science, or a related field.
- Strong foundational knowledge of geological principles, stratigraphy, sedimentology, and structural geology.
- Proficiency in geological mapping and data interpretation.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with geological software such as Petrel, Kingdom Suite, or ArcGIS.
- Familiarity with seismic interpretation techniques.
- Experience with field geology coursework or independent research projects.
- Knowledge of reservoir engineering principles.
- Strong quantitative skills and experience with statistical analysis.
