Job Description

We are seeking a talented and passionate Foley Artist to join our dynamic post-production team in Rapid City. This role focuses on enhancing film and television productions by creating and performing sound effects that synchronize with on-screen actions. The ideal candidate will possess a keen ear for detail, strong improvisational skills, and a comprehensive understanding of audio recording techniques and equipment. You will work within a collaborative and creative environment, contributing to projects that will be seen and heard by audiences worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform and record a wide range of foley sound effects, including footsteps, props, and cloth movements, to match on-screen visuals.
  • Collaborate closely with sound supervisors, mixers, and editors to achieve the desired sonic aesthetic for various projects.
  • Set up and operate foley studio equipment, including microphones, recording devices, and various props.
  • Maintain and organize a diverse library of foley props and surfaces.
  • Ensure all recorded foley assets are clean, properly labeled, and ready for integration into the audio mix.
  • Continuously experiment with new techniques and materials to expand the creative possibilities of foley.
  • Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Provide creative input and problem-solving solutions during foley sessions.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Foley Artist or a similar role in film, television, or animation post-production.
  • Excellent sense of timing, rhythm, and synchronization.
  • Proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) such such as Pro Tools.
  • Strong understanding of microphone placement, signal flow, and audio recording principles.
  • Ability to improvise and creatively replicate a wide variety of sounds.
  • Knowledge of various foley props and their sound characteristics.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a critical ear.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Film Production, or a related field.
  • Experience with large-scale feature film or episodic television projects.
  • Familiarity with sound design principles beyond foley.
  • Portfolio or reel demonstrating foley artistry.
