Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients during weekend shifts, ensuring adherence to established protocols and standards of practice.
- Perform accurate patient assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, meticulously documenting all interventions and patient responses.
- Monitor patient vital signs, observe for changes in condition, and effectively communicate critical information to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with physicians, other nurses, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain precise and thorough electronic health records (EHR) documentation.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations and provide life-saving interventions when necessary.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for patients, adhering to infection control policies.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training pertinent to the role.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or eligible for licensure by endorsement).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred for critical care areas.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Commitment to patient safety and quality care.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
