Job Description

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistants (HCAs) to join our dynamic teams across various wards and departments within our hospitals. This is a hospital-based role, offering the unique opportunity to work directly with patients and clinical staff in a fast-paced and rewarding environment. As an HCA, you will play a crucial role in delivering direct patient care, supporting nurses and other healthcare professionals, and ensuring our patients receive the highest standards of dignity and comfort. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with personal care, including washing, dressing, and mobility.
  • Support patients with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
  • Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and accurately record observations.
  • Document patient care activities and report any changes in patient condition to the nursing staff.
  • Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for patients and staff.
  • Support nurses with clinical procedures, as directed and within scope of practice.
  • Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
  • Help patients with rehabilitation exercises and activities as guided by therapists.
  • Ensure patient comfort and dignity are maintained at all times.
  • Assist with the admission and discharge of patients.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and patience.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection.
  • Basic IT skills for documentation.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or care setting (e.g., hospital, nursing home, domiciliary care).
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Experience with electronic patient record systems.
