Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Health Care Assistants (HCAs) to join our dynamic teams across various wards and departments within our hospitals. This is a hospital-based role, offering the unique opportunity to work directly with patients and clinical staff in a fast-paced and rewarding environment. As an HCA, you will play a crucial role in delivering direct patient care, supporting nurses and other healthcare professionals, and ensuring our patients receive the highest standards of dignity and comfort. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with personal care, including washing, dressing, and mobility.
- Support patients with feeding and hydration, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Monitor vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and accurately record observations.
- Document patient care activities and report any changes in patient condition to the nursing staff.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment for patients and staff.
- Support nurses with clinical procedures, as directed and within scope of practice.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families.
- Help patients with rehabilitation exercises and activities as guided by therapists.
- Ensure patient comfort and dignity are maintained at all times.
- Assist with the admission and discharge of patients.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and patience.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection.
- Basic IT skills for documentation.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work independently when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare or care setting (e.g., hospital, nursing home, domiciliary care).
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Experience with electronic patient record systems.
