Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Fleet Transition Driver with a primary focus on new car delivery. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of newly manufactured vehicles from distribution centers, ports, or manufacturing plants to various dealerships and customer locations. This position requires exceptional driving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the pristine condition of new vehicles during transit. You will be a crucial link in ensuring vehicles arrive on time and in perfect condition, ready for sale or customer handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport new vehicles to designated locations, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and car haulers, documenting any issues.
- Secure vehicles properly for transport to prevent damage during transit.
- Complete all necessary paperwork, electronic logs, and delivery manifests accurately and on time.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, logistics coordinators, and dealership personnel.
- Maintain a clean driving record and comply with all DOT regulations.
- Ensure the pristine condition of new vehicles upon delivery, performing a final inspection with the receiving party.
- Adhere to strict delivery schedules and routes.
- Report any delays, accidents, or incidents promptly.
- Provide exceptional customer service during vehicle handovers.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver's License)
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience (car hauling experience preferred but not mandatory).
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no major violations.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing, securing vehicles, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to vehicle safety and condition.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and adhere to strict schedules.
- Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics for pre-trip inspections.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with new vehicle delivery or finished vehicle logistics.
- Knowledge of electronic logging devices (ELDs) and transportation management systems (TMS).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Familiarity with various types of car hauling equipment.
