Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Facilities Support Assistant to join our busy team at Whiston Hospital. In this essential role, you will be crucial in ensuring a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You will work across various hospital departments, performing a range of duties that contribute to the smooth operation of our facilities and the overall patient experience. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong work ethic to contribute to a vital public service.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties in patient areas, offices, and public spaces, ensuring high standards of hygiene and infection control.
- Assist with the movement of equipment, furniture, and supplies throughout the hospital.
- Manage and dispose of waste safely and efficiently, adhering to all hospital policies and environmental regulations.
- Conduct minor maintenance tasks, such as changing lightbulbs or reporting defects to the maintenance team.
- Support patient transfers and escort services as required, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Restock supplies in various areas, including washrooms and treatment rooms.
- Maintain accurate records of tasks completed and report any issues promptly to supervisors.
- Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and hospital policies at all times.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, and colleagues.
Required Skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- A strong understanding of the importance of hygiene and infection control.
- Ability to follow instructions and procedures accurately.
- Physical stamina and the ability to undertake duties that involve standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
- A compassionate and patient-focused approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a facilities or cleaning role, preferably within a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
- Basic IT skills for record keeping.
- A full UK driving license (desirable but not essential).
