Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and physically fit Equine Stable Hand / Mucker to join our team. This demanding role requires early morning starts and significant physical exertion, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and care for our horses and facilities. If you are passionate about horses, possess a strong work ethic, and are ready to commit to the needs of a busy equestrian center, we encourage you to apply. This is an on-site position critical to the daily operations of our facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily mucking of stalls, ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for horses.
- Replenish fresh water and hay for horses according to feeding schedules.
- Assist with basic horse handling, including leading horses in and out of stalls.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of barn aisles, feed rooms, and tack areas.
- Report any signs of illness or injury in horses to the barn manager immediately.
- Perform general grounds maintenance, including sweeping, raking, and trash removal.
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries as needed.
- Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned, stored, and maintained.
Required Skills
- Exceptional physical stamina and endurance for hard, repetitive physical work.
- Ability to lift heavy loads (e.g., hay bales, water buckets) consistently.
- Reliability and punctuality for early morning shifts.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to stable cleanliness.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable working around horses and other animals.
- Strong communication skills to report observations and issues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working in an equestrian facility, farm, or similar environment.
- Basic knowledge of horse behavior and care.
- Experience operating basic farm equipment (e.g., wheelbarrows, Gators).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
