Job Description
An exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Entry Level Estimator with a focus on Mechanical Engineering. In this role, you will support our project teams by preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for mechanical systems and related components. This position offers a foundational experience in the construction and engineering industry, providing extensive training and mentorship to develop your skills in cost analysis, blueprint reading, and project specification interpretation. You will play a crucial part in the pre-construction phase of various projects, contributing directly to our bidding success and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior estimators in preparing comprehensive cost estimates for mechanical projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Review blueprints, specifications, and other documentation to understand project scope and requirements.
- Perform quantity take-offs for materials, labor, and equipment from architectural and engineering drawings.
- Obtain and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers for inclusion in estimates.
- Maintain organized records of bid documents, proposals, and project-related communications.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams to clarify project details and ensure accurate estimations.
- Learn and apply company estimation methodologies and software tools.
- Participate in site visits as needed to better understand project conditions and scope.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (e.g., Construction Management with Mechanical focus).
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Accubid, On-Screen Takeoff).
- Internship experience in mechanical contracting, construction, or engineering.
- Basic understanding of construction processes and building codes.
- Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD software.
