Job Description

As a Forklift Dockhand at XPO Logistics in Gulfport, Mississippi, you will play a crucial role in our fast-paced logistics hub. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of freight, loading and unloading trailers, and organizing the warehouse to ensure smooth operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment. You will operate various types of forklifts and material handling equipment, ensuring that all shipments are handled with care and processed according to company standards. This is an on-site position vital to our daily operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach truck) and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Load and unload trailers, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement of freight.
  • Scan and document incoming and outgoing shipments accurately.
  • Stage products for shipping or put away in designated warehouse locations.
  • Perform routine pre-operation inspections of forklifts and report any maintenance issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Assist with manual loading/unloading and general warehouse duties as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience operating forklifts (certification preferred).
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills for scanning and data entry.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a logistics or freight forwarding environment.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Valid driver's license.
