Job Description

Summa Health is immediately hiring dedicated and compassionate Entry Level Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) to join our night shift teams in the Highland Square area of Akron, OH. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals new to the healthcare field or recent graduates looking to kickstart their careers in a supportive and dynamic hospital environment. As a CNA, you will play a vital role in patient care, providing essential support to our nursing staff and ensuring the comfort and well-being of our patients during their recovery and treatment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Take and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) accurately.
- Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and ambulation.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
- Document care provided and observations made in patient charts.
- Respond promptly to patient calls and requests.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Assist nurses with medical procedures as directed.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
Required Skills
- Current Ohio STNA certification OR completion of a state-approved CNA training program and eligibility to test for certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care.
- Physical ability to lift, transfer, and assist patients.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially for night shifts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (paid or volunteer) in a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
