Job Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Quality Improvement Nurse with a strong focus on data and compliance to join our dedicated team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In this crucial role, you will be instrumental in enhancing patient safety, improving clinical outcomes, and ensuring regulatory adherence across our extensive healthcare system. You will leverage data to identify trends, lead quality improvement initiatives, and develop robust compliance strategies, contributing directly to our mission of providing exceptional care. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, utilizing advanced data analysis to identify areas for enhancement in patient care and operational processes.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local healthcare regulations, as well as accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
- Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive quality metrics and performance indicators to track progress and report outcomes to stakeholders.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify compliance risks and develop effective corrective action plans.
- Educate and train staff on quality improvement methodologies, compliance requirements, and best practices to foster a culture of excellence.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, and administrators, to implement evidence-based practices and drive change.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on quality improvement activities, compliance status, and performance trends to leadership and governance committees.
- Investigate patient safety events and near misses, contributing to thorough root cause analyses and preventative strategies.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all quality and compliance-related activities, ensuring audit readiness.
Required Skills
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan.
- Minimum of 4 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years specifically in quality improvement, patient safety, or regulatory compliance roles.
- Strong analytical skills with proven proficiency in data collection, analysis, and interpretation using tools like Microsoft Excel or similar software.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and quality methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, PDCA).
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare data platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, or a related field preferred.
- Certification in Quality (e.g., CPHQ – Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) or Patient Safety (e.g., CPPS).
- Experience with advanced statistical analysis software (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R).
- Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or PDCA cycles in a healthcare setting.
