Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our specialty lab team. This role is crucial for preparing customized medications for patients with unique needs, working closely with pharmacists and adhering to strict quality and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in sterile and non-sterile compounding, a strong understanding of pharmaceutical calculations, and a commitment to precision. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounded medications accurately and efficiently according to prescriptions and established formulas.
  • Utilize specialized compounding equipment, including balances, hot plates, ointment mills, and laminar flow hoods.
  • Perform accurate calculations to determine appropriate ingredient quantities for various dosage forms.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant compounding laboratory environment, adhering to USP 795, 797, and 800 guidelines.
  • Document all compounding activities meticulously, including batch records, ingredient traceability, and quality control checks.
  • Assist with inventory management of raw materials and finished compounded products, including ordering, receiving, and storage.
  • Collaborate effectively with pharmacists and other team members to ensure timely and accurate medication preparation and delivery.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with best practices in pharmaceutical compounding.

Required Skills

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in pharmaceutical compounding, specifically with sterile and non-sterile preparations.
  • Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations and metric system conversions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of USP 795, 797, and 800 guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain a sterile environment and follow aseptic techniques.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in a related scientific field.
  • Advanced certification in sterile compounding.
  • Experience with compounding specific software platforms.
  • Knowledge of various dosage forms and delivery systems.
