Job Description

We are seeking reliable and skilled individuals for flexible contract opportunities as a Coat Hook & Shelf Fitter. This role is perfect for handymen or tradespeople looking for quick, short-term gigs to supplement their income or build a client base. You will be responsible for travelling to customer homes within Exeter and the surrounding Devon area to install coat hooks, shelves, small wall-mounted items, and perform other minor carpentry or fitting tasks. Successful candidates will possess excellent practical skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to work independently to high standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Travel to various customer locations to complete assigned fitting tasks.
  • Accurately and securely install coat hooks, shelves, picture frames, and other wall-mounted items.
  • Perform minor carpentry and repair work as needed for installations.
  • Ensure all installations are level, secure, and aesthetically pleasing.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to understand their needs and provide excellent service.
  • Manage time efficiently to complete gigs within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area, protecting customer property.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven practical skills in carpentry, general DIY, or handyman work.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage own schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a handyman, carpenter, or installer.
  • Relevant trade qualifications or certifications (e.g., City & Guilds in Carpentry).
  • Public liability insurance.
  • Experience in customer service roles.
