Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Barrister to join our esteemed legal team in Southport. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented advocate to play a pivotal role in our personal injury and medical negligence practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert legal advice, drafting pleadings, and representing clients in court and at tribunals. You will work on a diverse caseload, collaborating closely with our solicitors and legal executives, and contributing to the firm’s continued success and reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice to clients and solicitors on complex legal matters.
  • Draft pleadings, opinions, and other legal documents with precision and clarity.
  • Represent clients effectively in County Courts, High Courts, and various tribunals.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies.
  • Engage in mediation and alternative dispute resolution processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, case law, and legal developments.
  • Collaborate with internal legal teams to develop robust case theories and strategies.
  • Manage a demanding caseload efficiently, adhering to deadlines and professional standards.

Required Skills

  • Called to the Bar of England and Wales with a current practising certificate.
  • Proven experience as a Barrister, particularly within personal injury or medical negligence.
  • Exceptional advocacy and courtroom presentation skills.
  • Strong legal research and analytical abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • High degree of professional integrity and client care focus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialisation in specific areas of personal injury (e.g., catastrophic injury, brain injury) or complex medical negligence.
  • Experience mentoring junior barristers or legal professionals.
  • A strong academic record, including a relevant postgraduate degree (e.g., LLM).
  • Active participation in legal professional bodies or associations.
