Job Description
Are you looking for a physically engaging role that keeps you active and offers top rates of pay? Tesco in Glasgow is seeking dedicated and strong individuals to join our team as an Apple Bin Loader. This is an essential role within our fresh produce logistics chain, focusing on the efficient and safe handling of apple bins within our distribution centre. It’s more than just a job; it’s a daily physical workout, perfect for those who enjoy active work and contributing to a vital part of the food supply network.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload large bins of apples onto and from trucks and storage areas.
- Operate manual and powered material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, pushcarts) as required.
- Inspect bins and apples for quality and report any damages or discrepancies.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure smooth workflow and timely processing of produce.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy bins throughout the shift.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures regarding product handling and workplace safety.
Required Skills
- Excellent physical stamina and strength, capable of repeatedly lifting heavy objects (up to 25kg).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of warehouse operations is beneficial but not essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or physically demanding role.
- Experience operating pallet jacks or similar manual handling equipment.
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
