Job Description
Are you a motivated 17-year-old looking to gain valuable hands-on experience in the construction industry? Messer Construction Co. is seeking enthusiastic Construction Aides to support our project teams in Cincinnati. This entry-level position is perfect for individuals eager to learn the fundamentals of construction, contribute to real projects, and work in a safe, supervised environment. All necessary safety gear will be provided to ensure your well-being on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled tradespeople with various tasks on construction sites, including material handling, site cleanup, and tool organization.
- Learn and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, wearing provided safety gear at all times.
- Help maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Perform general labor tasks as directed by supervisors, such as digging, lifting, and moving supplies.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Support team members in preparing and cleaning up work areas.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding tasks and safety concerns.
Required Skills
- Must be 17 years of age or older.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and follow instructions.
- Punctual and reliable attendance.
- Basic understanding of safety awareness.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Enrollment in or completion of a high school vocational program related to trades or construction.
- Prior experience with hand tools or power tools (under supervision).
- Demonstrated ability to follow rules and procedures diligently.
