Job Description
Are you a motivated 14-year-old looking for a hands-on, seasonal opportunity to learn about farming and contribute to your local community? Bloomsbury Farm is seeking enthusiastic Farm Hands to join our team for the upcoming growing season. This is an excellent entry-level position for teens eager to gain valuable work experience, enjoy the outdoors, and learn the fundamentals of local agriculture. You’ll work alongside experienced farmers, assisting with various daily tasks that keep our farm vibrant and productive.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planting, weeding, and harvesting a variety of fruits and vegetables.
- Help with general farm maintenance and clean-up tasks, including tidying fields and tools.
- Potentially assist with light animal care, such as feeding or watering (under supervision).
- Support the preparation and packing of produce for market or farm stand sales.
- Follow instructions diligently and work safely in an outdoor farm environment.
- Contribute to a positive and cooperative team atmosphere.
Required Skills
- Must be 14 years of age or older.
- Eagerness and willingness to learn new tasks and skills.
- Ability to follow instructions carefully and work independently when directed.
- Reliable and punctual attendance.
- Capable of performing physical tasks outdoors, including lifting light loads (up to 20 lbs), bending, and standing for periods.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Genuine interest in agriculture, gardening, or outdoor activities.
- Prior experience with outdoor chores or gardening (personal or school-related).
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Good communication skills.
