Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Maritime Policy Analyst with a strong focus on shipping and naval operations to join our expert team. In this pivotal role, you will contribute to critical national and international maritime policy development, analysis, and implementation. You will leverage your expertise to research, evaluate, and provide strategic recommendations on complex maritime issues, including naval strategy, commercial shipping regulations, port security, and international maritime law. This position requires a keen understanding of geopolitical dynamics, economic factors, and technological advancements impacting the global maritime domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of current and emerging maritime policies, regulations, and trends relevant to shipping and naval operations.
- Evaluate the impact of proposed policies on various stakeholders, including government agencies, commercial entities, and international organizations.
- Develop comprehensive reports, briefs, and presentations outlining findings, recommendations, and strategic insights for senior leadership and clients.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, subject matter experts, and external partners to gather information and build consensus.
- Monitor global maritime events, technological developments, and geopolitical shifts to anticipate future policy needs and challenges.
- Provide expert advice and support on maritime security, trade, and environmental policy matters.
- Represent the organization in relevant forums, conferences, and working groups as required.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in International Relations, Political Science, Maritime Studies, Public Policy, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in maritime policy analysis, naval operations, or commercial shipping.
- Demonstrated expertise in maritime security, international maritime law, and global shipping economics.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with experience presenting complex information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in data analysis and presentation tools.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant field.
- Experience working with U.S. government agencies (e.g., Department of Defense, Coast Guard, Department of Transportation).
- Familiarity with maritime intelligence gathering and analysis.
- Prior experience in a consulting environment.
- Knowledge of specific maritime regions or geopolitical hotspots.
- Active security clearance.
