Job Description

We are seeking a highly reliable and efficient Blood Bank Porter to join our dedicated team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. This is an urgent vacancy for a crucial role that supports our life-saving blood bank services. The successful candidate will be responsible for the critical and timely delivery of blood products, samples, and related equipment throughout the hospital. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport blood products, samples, and equipment between the Blood Bank and various hospital departments, ensuring their integrity and timely delivery.
  • Adhere strictly to all established protocols and procedures for handling and transporting sensitive medical materials, including temperature control and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of all deliveries and collections, using designated tracking systems.
  • Communicate effectively with Blood Bank staff, nurses, doctors, and other hospital personnel to coordinate urgent deliveries and collections.
  • Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of delivery equipment, ensuring it is always in good working order.
  • Respond promptly to urgent requests for blood product delivery, prioritizing critical situations.
  • Ensure all movements are conducted in a manner that maintains patient confidentiality and dignity.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development relevant to the role and hospital policies.
