Job Description
We are seeking a highly reliable and efficient Blood Bank Porter to join our dedicated team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. This is an urgent vacancy for a crucial role that supports our life-saving blood bank services. The successful candidate will be responsible for the critical and timely delivery of blood products, samples, and related equipment throughout the hospital. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, a strong sense of responsibility, and the ability to work effectively under pressure to ensure patient safety and continuity of care. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport blood products, samples, and equipment between the Blood Bank and various hospital departments, ensuring their integrity and timely delivery.
- Adhere strictly to all established protocols and procedures for handling and transporting sensitive medical materials, including temperature control and documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of all deliveries and collections, using designated tracking systems.
- Communicate effectively with Blood Bank staff, nurses, doctors, and other hospital personnel to coordinate urgent deliveries and collections.
- Assist with the cleaning and maintenance of delivery equipment, ensuring it is always in good working order.
- Respond promptly to urgent requests for blood product delivery, prioritizing critical situations.
- Ensure all movements are conducted in a manner that maintains patient confidentiality and dignity.
- Participate in ongoing training and development relevant to the role and hospital policies.
