Job Description
Are you an energetic, music-obsessed individual with an innate ability to spot emerging talent? Sony Music Entertainment is seeking a highly motivated A&R Scout (Trainee) to join our team in El Paso, Texas. This entry-level role is perfect for someone with a passion for music across diverse genres, a keen ear for potential, and a proactive approach to discovery. You will be on the front lines, identifying and connecting with artists who have the potential to break through. This is a high-energy role that requires a vibrant personality, excellent networking skills, and a deep understanding of current music trends and subcultures. Key Responsibilities
- Actively scout for new and emerging musical talent across various platforms (live shows, social media, streaming services, online communities, etc.).
- Attend local music events, open mics, and industry showcases to identify promising artists.
- Cultivate and maintain a robust network of industry contacts, including artists, producers, managers, and promoters.
- Monitor music charts, trending artists, and social media analytics to identify shifts in popular taste.
- Prepare concise reports and presentations on potential talent, including demos, profiles, and market analysis.
- Collaborate with the A&R team to discuss findings and contribute to talent acquisition strategies.
- Stay informed on current music industry trends, new technologies, and competitor activities.
Required Skills
- Profound passion for music across multiple genres and a deep understanding of current music trends.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to network effectively.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to articulate findings clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency with social media platforms and digital music services.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in music journalism, promotions, event planning, or related fields.
- Basic understanding of music production or songwriting.
- Strong knowledge of the El Paso local music scene.
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) is a plus.
