Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pacific Coast Mitigation Monitor to join our Environmental Services team. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and mitigation plans for projects impacting the Pacific Coast region, with a base in Montgomery, Alabama. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field inspections, data collection, and report generation, ensuring all project activities adhere to stringent environmental permits and guidelines in high compliance sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular on-site monitoring and inspections of mitigation sites along the Pacific Coast, ensuring adherence to permit conditions and environmental regulations.
  • Perform detailed data collection, including photo documentation, GPS coordinates, and qualitative assessments of ecological conditions.
  • Prepare comprehensive monitoring reports, including findings, recommendations, and compliance status updates, for submission to regulatory agencies and clients.
  • Collaborate with project managers, environmental specialists, and contractors to address compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, particularly those pertaining to coastal development, wetland mitigation, and endangered species protection.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of environmental management plans and mitigation strategies.
  • Operate and maintain specialized field equipment safely and effectively.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in environmental monitoring, compliance, or field biology.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state environmental regulations (e.g., Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act).
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and report writing.
  • Ability to work independently in challenging outdoor environments and travel extensively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel frequently to Pacific Coast project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant environmental discipline.
  • Experience with GIS software (ArcGIS) for mapping and data management.
  • Knowledge of Pacific Coast ecosystems, flora, and fauna.
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification.
  • Experience with environmental permitting processes and agency coordination.
