Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and organised Hospital Mailroom Porter to join our dedicated team in Oxford. This part-time role is crucial for the efficient operation of our hospital’s administrative functions, ensuring the smooth flow of internal and external mail, packages, and documents across various departments. You will be responsible for sorting, distributing, and collecting mail, as well as assisting with general office duties related to mailroom operations. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, physically capable, and possess excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort and distribute incoming mail, parcels, and internal communications to the correct departments and individuals.
- Collect outgoing mail and packages from various hospital areas.
- Process outgoing mail, including franking and preparing items for postal services.
- Maintain accurate records of mail and package movements.
- Assist with the delivery of supplies and equipment within the office environment as needed.
- Operate mailroom equipment, such as franking machines and parcel scales.
- Ensure the mailroom is kept tidy, organised, and secure.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including health and safety guidelines.
- Provide friendly and professional service to all staff members.
Required Skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina, capable of lifting and moving mail bags and parcels.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills for sorting and record-keeping.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a mailroom, porter, or administrative support role.
