Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Prospect Research Analyst to join our dynamic Foundation team. In this critical role, you will be instrumental in identifying, researching, and analyzing high-net-worth individuals, corporations, and foundations who have the capacity and propensity to support Akron Children’s Hospital’s mission. Your meticulous research and insightful analysis will directly contribute to our fundraising strategies, enabling us to build meaningful relationships with potential donors and secure the resources needed to provide exceptional care for children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, research, and qualify prospective donors (individuals, corporations, foundations) with an emphasis on high-net-worth individuals through various public and private resources.
  • Analyze complex financial, biographical, and philanthropic data to assess giving capacity and affinity for the hospital's mission.
  • Prepare comprehensive research profiles and briefings for executive leadership, development officers, and board members, outlining philanthropic interests, relationships, and giving histories.
  • Utilize and maintain prospect management databases (e.g., Raiser's Edge) to ensure data accuracy, integrity, and timely updates.
  • Monitor news, financial reports, and philanthropic trends to identify new opportunities and potential risks related to fundraising.
  • Collaborate closely with development officers to strategize on cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects.
  • Conduct ad-hoc research projects as needed to support specific campaigns or fundraising initiatives.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and best practices in prospect research, including donor privacy and confidentiality.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in prospect research methodologies and tools (e.g., WealthEngine, DonorSearch, LexisNexis for Development).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise summaries.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Library Science, Communications, Non-profit Management).
  • 2+ years of experience in prospect research, development, or a related field, preferably within a healthcare or non-profit setting.
  • Experience with Raiser's Edge or similar CRM/donor management software.
  • Knowledge of philanthropic trends and regulations.
