Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Clinical Trial Pharmacy Assistant to join our dynamic research and laboratory team in Chicago. This role is crucial in supporting the efficient and compliant operation of pharmacy services within our clinical trial environment. The ideal candidate will assist pharmacists and research staff in the preparation, storage, dispensing, and accountability of investigational products, ensuring strict adherence to protocols, regulatory guidelines, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP). This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge medical research and play a vital part in advancing healthcare innovations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the accurate receipt, storage, and inventory management of investigational drugs and supplies.
- Support the preparation and dispensing of investigational products under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Maintain meticulous records of drug accountability, temperature monitoring, and expiration dates.
- Prepare study-specific pharmacy kits and conduct quality control checks.
- Assist with the documentation and resolution of drug-related queries from clinical sites.
- Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with study protocols, FDA regulations, GCP, and company SOPs.
- Participate in internal and external audits as required.
- Handle the proper disposal of unused or expired investigational products.
- Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, clinical research coordinators, and other research personnel.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably in a hospital or research environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a science-related field.
- Familiarity with clinical trial processes and regulatory requirements (GCP, FDA regulations).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) or clinical trial management systems (CTMS).
