Job Description
Are you a dedicated cycling enthusiast with a knack for keeping bikes in pristine condition? Evans Cycles in Southsea is looking for a passionate Bicycle Maintenance & Valet to join our dynamic workshop team. This role is perfect for someone who loves bicycles, takes pride in their work, and is committed to delivering exceptional service. You will be responsible for a range of tasks, from routine servicing and repairs to ensuring every bike leaves our shop looking its best. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance, servicing, and complex repairs on a wide variety of bicycles (road, mountain, hybrid, electric, children's bikes).
- Conduct thorough safety checks and pre-delivery inspections for new bikes.
- Execute high-standard valeting and detailing services to ensure bikes are presented immaculately.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and provide accurate estimates for repairs to customers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Manage parts inventory, ordering, and stock rotation effectively.
- Provide friendly, expert advice and exceptional customer service to all cyclists.
- Adhere to all company health and safety policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Demonstrable basic to intermediate bicycle mechanics knowledge and repair skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Manual dexterity and physical fitness to handle various bike sizes and tools.
- A genuine passion for cycling and understanding of different cycling disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cytech technical qualification (or equivalent industry certification).
- Previous experience in a bicycle workshop, retail environment, or similar mechanical role.
- Familiarity with a wide range of bicycle components and brands.
- Knowledge of e-bike systems and diagnostics.
- Full UK driving license (desirable for potential mobile service or pickups).
