Job Description
As a Retail Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you will play a crucial role in our pharmacy team, assisting pharmacists in providing excellent patient care and ensuring efficient pharmacy operations. Key Responsibilities
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing prescription medications accurately and efficiently.
- Process prescription orders, including data entry, insurance claims, and patient billing.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patient inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure patient confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and organizing medications.
- Perform routine pharmacy tasks such as counting pills, labeling bottles, and compounding non-sterile preparations under pharmacist supervision.
- Operate pharmacy systems and equipment, including point-of-sale (POS) terminals.
- Ensure the pharmacy area is clean, organized, and compliant with all safety and regulatory standards.
- Support the pharmacist in all aspects of pharmacy operations and patient care.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, as well as state and federal pharmacy regulations.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn pharmacy software systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician License or Registration.
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (e.g., PTCB or NHA).
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a retail setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical calculations.
- Experience with pharmacy management software.
