Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and reliable individual to join our Public Works team as a Crime Scene Tape Remover – Post-Investigation Cleanup specialist. This essential role involves the systematic removal of crime scene tape, signage, and other temporary markers after law enforcement investigations have concluded. The successful candidate will also be responsible for light cleanup duties to restore public spaces to their pre-incident condition, ensuring public access and aesthetic appeal. This position requires attention to detail, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to work independently or as part of a small team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently remove crime scene tape, barricades, and other temporary investigative markers from public areas once officially released by law enforcement.
  • Collect and dispose of any residual non-hazardous debris or litter left behind at former crime scenes, following appropriate waste management guidelines.
  • Inspect sites for any remaining hazards and report findings to supervisors.
  • Operate basic hand tools and cleaning equipment as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of sites visited and tasks completed.
  • Adhere strictly to all city safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding job progress or potential issues.
  • Represent the City of Port St. Lucie professionally in all interactions with the public.

Required Skills

  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures and willingness to wear required PPE.
  • Reliability and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in a similar outdoor labor or general maintenance role.
  • Familiarity with Port St. Lucie city geography.
