Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Tank Farm Operator to join our team in Fontana, CA. In this critical on-site role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a midstream storage tank farm facility, ensuring the proper handling, storage, and transfer of various petroleum products. You will monitor tank levels, operate pumps, valves, and other equipment, and perform routine inspections to maintain operational integrity and compliance with all safety and environmental regulations. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control tank levels, product movements, and pipeline transfers using SCADA systems and local controls.
- Operate pumps, valves, manifolds, and other equipment associated with tank farm operations.
- Conduct routine inspections of tanks, pipelines, pumps, and associated equipment to identify and address potential issues.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on equipment as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, and abnormal operating conditions promptly and effectively.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, records, and reports related to product movements, inventory, and equipment status.
- Participate in safety meetings, training programs, and emergency response drills.
- Communicate effectively with other operators, supervisors, and external personnel.
Required Skills
- Proven mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and environmental compliance.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and system monitoring.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, operational manuals, and safety guidelines.
- Physical ability to climb stairs and ladders, lift up to 50 lbs, and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a technical field or equivalent vocational training.
- 2+ years of experience in an industrial setting, preferably in oil & gas, chemicals, or a related field.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems or other process control software.
- HAZWOPER certification.
- Experience with Lockout/Tagout procedures and confined space entry.
