Job Description
As a Google Technical Writer focusing on Documentation & Support, you will be instrumental in creating and maintaining high-quality technical content that helps users effectively utilize Google’s products and platforms. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to contribute from anywhere within the United States. You will work closely with engineering, product management, and support teams to ensure our documentation is accurate, comprehensive, and user-friendly. Your work will directly impact user success and satisfaction across a wide range of Google technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, write, and maintain clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation for developers, administrators, and end-users.
- Collaborate with engineers and product managers to understand product features and technical specifications.
- Develop content strategies for new features, products, and platform updates.
- Review and edit documentation for grammar, style, tone, and technical accuracy.
- Work with support teams to identify common user issues and create documentation to address them.
- Contribute to documentation standards, style guides, and best practices.
- Gather and incorporate feedback from users and internal stakeholders to improve content.
- Manage documentation projects from inception to publication, ensuring timely delivery.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing, editing, or content development for software products.
- Proven ability to write clear, concise, and accurate documentation for complex technical topics.
- Experience with various documentation tools and platforms (e.g., Markdown, DITA, Git, content management systems).
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and API documentation principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Computer Science, English, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with programming concepts (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript) to understand code samples.
- Experience in user experience (UX) writing or content design.
- Portfolio of published technical documentation samples.
