Job Description
Nuance Communications is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Online Transcription Assistant with a strong medical focus to join our dedicated remote team. This is a 100% remote position, offering the flexibility to work from your home while contributing significantly to critical healthcare documentation. You will be responsible for accurately transcribing audio recordings of medical dictations, ensuring the highest standards of precision and adherence to specific formatting and regulatory guidelines. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional listening abilities, a meticulous eye for detail, and a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, enabling them to produce clear, concise, and error-free medical documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately transcribe diverse medical dictations from audio recordings, including patient histories, physical exams, operative reports, consultation notes, and discharge summaries.
- Ensure strict adherence to patient confidentiality and all relevant HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.
- Rigorously verify the accuracy and completeness of all transcribed reports against original dictations, correcting any discrepancies.
- Effectively utilize specialized medical transcription software, digital dictation systems, and other relevant tools to optimize workflow.
- Perform thorough review and editing of transcripts for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and consistency.
- Maintain consistent formatting and style guidelines as stipulated by client specifications and internal policies.
- Consistently meet or exceed daily productivity quotas and quality assurance standards.
- Communicate effectively and promptly with team leads or supervisors regarding any challenging audio, discrepancies, or issues encountered.
- Stay updated with changes in medical terminology, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements in the healthcare industry.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in medical transcription or a closely related field.
- Exceptional command of the English language, including advanced grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Profound proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and disease processes across various specialties.
- Outstanding listening and comprehension skills, with the ability to discern speech patterns, accents, and complex medical jargon.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing error-free work.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and maintain productivity in a remote work environment.
- Strong computer proficiency, including experience with various transcription software platforms, word processing, and general office applications.
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a secure, private home workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from an accredited medical transcription program (e.g., Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) or Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) by AHDI).
- Familiarity with specific Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and their integration with transcription workflows.
- Prior experience transcribing for a diverse range of medical specialties (e.g., cardiology, oncology, orthopedics, neurology).
