Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Electrical Engineer with specialized expertise in high voltage systems to join our dynamic team in Columbia, Missouri. This critical role involves the design, analysis, and maintenance of high-voltage transmission and distribution infrastructure, ensuring reliable and safe power delivery. The successful candidate will contribute to various projects, from new substation designs to grid modernization initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-voltage electrical systems, including substations, transmission lines, and distribution networks.
- Perform complex power system analysis, including load flow, short circuit, and transient stability studies.
- Prepare detailed engineering specifications, drawings, and schematics for high-voltage equipment and infrastructure.
- Conduct technical reviews of project designs and ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and operation of high-voltage assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, field engineers, and operations personnel.
- Investigate system disturbances, troubleshoot failures, and develop solutions to enhance grid reliability and performance.
- Stay abreast of new technologies and best practices in high-voltage engineering.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in high-voltage power systems, transmission, or distribution
- Strong understanding of power system analysis tools (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD)
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation)
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards (e.g., IEEE, NESC, ANSI)
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively pursuing licensure
- Experience with grid modernization or renewable energy integration projects
- Familiarity with substation automation and control systems
- Project management experience
