Job Description
We are urgently seeking dedicated and compassionate Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to join our dynamic team in a fast-paced hospital setting in Omaha. This full-time position requires immediate availability to provide essential support to nurses and other healthcare professionals, ensuring the highest quality of patient care. As a PCT, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for our patients, assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and contributing to the overall well-being of individuals under our care. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Obtain and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) and accurately document patient data.
- Monitor and report changes in patient condition to the nursing staff promptly and clearly.
- Assist with patient mobility, transfers, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and equipment.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety, including maintaining a clean and organized patient environment.
- Collect specimens (urine, stool) as directed and assist with basic wound care.
- Document care provided and observations in the electronic health record (EHR) accurately.
- Respond to patient call lights in a timely and professional manner.
- Perform delegated tasks under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or other licensed healthcare professional.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
- Demonstrated empathy, compassion, and a patient-centered approach.
- Basic computer proficiency for electronic health record documentation.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and assist patients for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program or equivalent.
- Previous experience (6+ months) as a PCT, CNA, or in a similar healthcare support role.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
